Peaty's LinkLube Dry: Unleash Your Chain's Performance in Desert Dry to Mildly Moist Conditions
What is it?
LinkLube Dry from Peaty's is a cutting-edge, wax-based chain lubricant designed for use in desert dry and dusty to mildly moist conditions. Formulated with a unique blend of waxes suspended in a water-based emulsion, this dry lube provides cyclists with a long-lasting, clean-running, and quiet chain even in the most challenging and arid riding environments.
All Weather vs. Dry... What's the Difference?
LinkLube All Weather serves as Peaty's go-to chain lube for most weather conditions. While its base carrier fluid possesses fast-penetrating, chain-cleaning properties, it doesn't become fully dry to the touch. In extremely dry and dusty conditions, this lack of dryness can attract unwanted dust. That's where LinkLube Dry comes in—a bespoke dry lube tailored for these specific conditions, providing an optimal solution for maintaining peak performance.
Why Water? Why Wax?
Wax is the ultimate lubricant for dry conditions. When applied correctly, it fills chain links and rollers with a hard, slippery coating that lasts on the trails and remains dry to the touch. This characteristic prevents dry dirt and dust from sticking to the chain, ensuring a smooth and clean ride.
Application:
Preparation:
- Apply LinkLube Dry to a well-degreased and dry drivetrain for the first application.
- Ensure the chain is free from dirt and old lube to allow the new lube to reach the essential areas.
- Use Peaty's foaming drivetrain degreaser or xxx solvent degreaser for stubborn factory greases.
Application Process:
- Thoroughly rinse the chain with clean water after degreasing.
- Allow the chain to dry completely before application.
- Apply the lube to the inside face of the chain. The light blue color helps visualize the application.
Cycling the Chain:
- Cycle the chain for 20 seconds to help the lube penetrate fully into the pins and rollers.
Avoid Over-Application:
- Check for over-application by looking for excess lube filling the narrow chain links.
- If over-applied, cycle through the gears to transfer excess lube onto the cassette.
Drying Process:
- Leave the lube to fully dry, turning from light blue to completely clear.
- Drying time depends on weather conditions, ranging from minutes to hours.
Ready to Ride:
- After the drying process, your chain is ready for action.
Caution:
- Avoid contact with brakes or brake pads. Do not get LinkLube (or any lube) on your braking components.
Peaty's LinkLube Dry is your key to unlocking optimal chain performance in dry and dusty conditions, offering a seamless and silent riding experience.
